EVERYONE HAS A BOOK INSIDE THEM. WHAT’S YOURS?
Everyone has heard this phrase, or a variation of it. Most of us dismiss it as an idea that’s not for us — and we tell ourselves all kinds of things in the process: I don’t have time; I’m not meant to be a writer; no one will want to read it; who am I to write a book?; my college professor said my writing sucks …
I get it. I do. I used to tell myself the same things. But I was wrong. I thought my voice didn’t matter, that it wasn’t worth sharing. I know that place. And so do you.
“Write what disturbs you, what you fear,
what you have not been willing to speak about.
Be willing to be split open.”
~ Natalie Goldberg
I work with writers and other creatives who are experiencing blocks around their own creative processes, or can’t see the wood for the trees with their current work-in-progress. Or maybe you’ve written yourself into a tight corner with your story, and need a new pair of eyes and a fresh perspective. Perhaps you just want to talk books and writing with someone who understands the addiction.
Maybe you’ve always had a creative dream that you’ve been too fearful to follow.
Perhaps you’ve always wanted to learn to play the piano, the saxophone, the guitar, but there’s a loud voice inside telling you that you’re too old, that you missed your chance as a child. Or maybe there’s a deep desire to paint the worlds you see in your dreams, but you still remember your high school art teacher’s disparaging comments about your creations. Or maybe you’ve always had that itch to create and think that the voice of your inner critic is just too strong.
Well, I’m here to tell you that your inner critic is wrong, and that your desire to create is more powerful than anything it can throw at you.
Why? Because I believe in your creativity, and I believe in you.
Sometimes you have an idea why you’re not creating, not writing, not making music. Sometimes you don’t. Sometimes it’s obvious, like an inner critic who’s holding you to ransom. Sometimes it isn’t, and you can’t see the wood for the trees. And, if you’re anything like me, you’ve tried various ways to inspire, encourage, or even force yourself to create, but it’s not working — and then the feelings of frustration and disappointment appear, along with some of their other less popular friends. What’s more, that itch isn’t going away — and you’re tired of trying to solve this same problem each time you sit down to try and write, or paint, or practice your scales.
Believe it or not, this is a problem many writers and creatives have from time to time. And no matter what classes or workshops you’ve taken, nothing seems to stick, nothing seems to break through that block that’s driving you crazy and keeping you from create. And that’s because your problem isn’t external. It’s internal — buried deep within all those thoughts, feelings, and core beliefs you’ve been carrying around likely since you were a child.
As a Life Coach, writer, and musician just like you, I can support you in excavating all the deeply held beliefs that are stopping you from being creative, from writing — and keeping you stuck in a life where you don’t express your voice in a truly authentic way. I can help you take back your power so that you can start creating, start writing — and start moving in your own right direction. A direction that feels deeply meaningful, purposeful, and so very, very alive.
You can do this. I believe in you. Let’s work together to help you discover the creative you truly are.
